PANCH KEDAR YATRA

  1. Kedarnath Temple:
    • Location: Kedarnath
    • Altitude: 3,584 meters (11,762 feet)
    • Significance: Kedarnath is the highest and most important of the Panch Kedar temples. It is believed that the temple was established by the Pandavas, the heroes of the Mahabharata epic, to seek forgiveness from Lord Shiva. The temple is located near the source of the Mandakini River and is a major pilgrimage site.
  2. Tungnath Temple:
    • Location: Tungnath
    • Altitude: 3,680 meters (12,073 feet)
    • Significance: Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world. According to legend, this temple is where Lord Shiva’s arms are believed to have appeared. The temple is situated amidst stunning landscapes, offering panoramic views of the Himalayas.
  3. Madhyamaheshwar Temple:
    • Location: Madhyamaheshwar
    • Altitude: 3,289 meters (10,787 feet)
    • Significance: Madhyamaheshwar is considered the middle temple of the Panch Kedar circuit. It is believed to house the navel of Lord Shiva. The temple is located in a serene and remote valley, surrounded by lush meadows and snow-capped peaks.
  4. Rudranath Temple:
    • Location: Rudranath
    • Altitude: 2,286 meters (7,500 feet)
    • Significance: Rudranath is associated with the face of Lord Shiva. The temple is situated in a picturesque setting, surrounded by dense forests and high peaks. It is known for its tranquil environment and is less frequented compared to other temples.
  5. Kalpeshwar Temple:
    • Location: Kalpeshwar
    • Altitude: 2,134 meters (7,000 feet)
    • Significance: Kalpeshwar is the final temple in the Panch Kedar circuit and is linked to Lord Shiva’s matted locks. It is located in a valley surrounded by scenic beauty and is known for its peaceful ambiance.

Panch Kedar Yatra is a challenging but spiritually rewarding pilgrimage that requires trekking through rugged terrain and high altitudes. Each temple has its own unique charm and significance, making the journey a deeply enriching experience for devotees and trekkers alike.

  • Drive: 204 km / Approx. 7 hours
  • Description: After breakfast, drive from Haridwar to Sonprayag, passing through Devprayag and Rudraprayag. Enjoy the scenic beauty of these confluences and the picturesque landscapes. On arrival at Sonprayag, check into the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
  • Drive: 5 km / Approx. 20 minutes
  • Trek: 17 km one way
  • Description: Early morning departure to Gaurikund. Start the trek to Kedarnath, which is steep with level sections. Enjoy the stunning views of the Kedarnath range and the lush valleys. Overnight stay at Kedarnath.
  • Trek: Return trek to Gaurikund
  • Drive: 65 km / Approx. 4 hours
  • Description: After darshan at Kedarnath Temple, trek back to Gaurikund. Drive to Ransi, the starting point of the Madhyamaheshwar Trek. On the way, enjoy the scenic drive through the Himalayan foothills. Overnight stay at Ransi Village.
  • Trek: 6 km
  • Description: Trek from Ransi to Bantoli via Gaundhar, with easy descents and moderate ascents. The trail offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills and rivers. Overnight stay at Bantoli.
  • Trek: 10 km
  • Description: Trek from Bantoli to Madhyamaheshwar with moderate ascents. The trail passes through charming meadows and offers stunning views of the Himalayan peaks. Overnight stay at Madhyamaheshwar.
  • Trek: Return trek to Ransi
  • Drive: 40 km / Approx. 2 hours
  • Description: Trek back to Ransi and drive to Chopta. Enjoy the scenic drive through lush forests and high-altitude terrain. Overnight stay at Chopta.
  • Trek: 4 km each way
  • Description: Trek to Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world. The trail offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. After darshan, trek back to Chopta. Overnight stay at Chopta.
  • Drive: 30 km / Approx. 1 hour
  • Trek: 10 km
  • Description: Drive to Sagar Village and start the trek to Panar Bugyal. The trail passes through scenic meadows and offers views of the Himalayan peaks. Overnight stay at Panar.
  • Trek: 8 km each way
  • Description: Hike to Rudranath, where you’ll enjoy beautiful landscapes and spiritual serenity. Return to Panar Bugyal after darshan. Overnight stay at Panar.
  • Trek: Return trek to Sagar
  • Drive: 60 km / Approx. 2 hours
  • Description: Trek down to Sagar Village and drive to Urgam. The drive offers stunning views of the Himalayan foothills and traditional villages. Overnight stay at Urgam.
  • Trek: 2 km each way
  • Drive: 110 km / Approx. 3 hours
  • Description: Easy trek to Kalpeshwar Temple from Urgam. After darshan, return to Urgam and drive to Rudraprayag. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the route and the confluence of rivers. Overnight stay at Rudraprayag.
  • Drive: 162 km / Approx. 6 hours
  • Description: After breakfast, drive back to Haridwar. Enjoy the picturesque drive and connect with your onward destination.
